WHAT IS POMS?

Dance/pom is usually a year-round sport, performing in competitions and at sporting events, most commonly football and basketball games. Some schools also have their dance team perform short sideline dances, and some dance teams also perform at school pep rallies.

COACH'S PHILOSOPHY

 

To provide dancers with a successful, meaningful, and educational experience during their time here at Dakota Ridge High School. Dancers will learn spirit, develop good sportsmanship amongst the student body, and show enthusiasm, leadership, and loyalty among the DRHS community.

HEAD COACH

ELIZABETH ALCORN

Elizabeth has been coaching at Dakota Ridge High School for two years, and teaching dance for seven years. She participated in Poms Activities throughout her high school career, and has been dancing since she was three. Elizabeth graduated from MSU Denver with her BA in Dance in May of 2020. She is currently working on her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University while working as a purchasing agent as Jefferson Center for Mental Health. She also teaches dance at Park Hill Dance Academy and dances professionally with Life Art Dance Ensemble. Elizabeth is passionate about encouraging and helping students to find their passions and their way throughout high school; and she enjoys her time spent with the DRHS Poms Team!

ASSISTANT COACH

EM ROSEE ANDERSON

Em "Rosee" has been coaching with Dakota Ridge for two years, coming on with Elizabeth. She has been teaching dance for eight years! Rosee was a Pom in highschool at Pomona from '11-'14! Rosee graduated from Red Rocks Community College in 2019 with her Associate of Arts and is currently attending school to become a Real Estate Agent! She currently works as a Wellness Membership Advisor at Elements Massage and also teaches dance at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. She also teaches and helps with administrative work at Park Hill Dance Academy. She loves teaching dances to all ages, but has found a special home at DRHS. Rosee always enjoys her days spent with the Poms Team!
